Central Zone champions Madhya Pradesh rode on Naman Ojha’s unbeaten century to crush East Zone toppers Orissa by five wicekts in a quarterfinal match of the Vijay Hazara Trophy Cricket Tournament at Ahmedabad today. Opener Ojha hit 12 fours and two sixes in his 140-ball unconquered knock of 109 as MP overhauled a modest target of 228 with 3.2 overs to spare. Mohnish Mishra (47 off 50) provided good support to Ojha, compiling 85 runs for the third wicket.
Earlier put into bat, Orissa suffered a middle-order failure to be restricted to 227 in 49.4 overs. Most of the batsmen got good starts but none could score a half-century. They struggled at 144 for six, losing four wickets for 12 runs before a cameo knock of 37 by Bibhudatta Panda enabled them reach a respectable total.
